5Church
I went on a mini vacation this month to Charlotte. It just happened to be restaurant week as well so I was ready to eat! Thanks to a suggestion by a friend we found an amazing brunch spot on the corner of 5th & Church street. Per usual I perused the brunch menu to make sure I could find multiple options for my entree selection before venturing out of my hotel. Walking into 5Church my eyes widened and I was taken aback from how beautiful and picturesque the decor was. The color scheme, the custom art, even the lighting was exquisite.
While 5Church did not have a bottemless mimosa option they had a $15 mimosa carafe. Being true to myself and always wanting a bang for my buck, I asked our waiter how many mimosas we could get out of one carafe. Turns out around 4-5 glasses. The mimosas came just the right shade, looking more like lemonade than orange juice which meant the ratio of champagne to orange juice was perfect.
I knew from my first glance at the menu what I wanted to order, I just needed confirmation from the waiter that the lamb burger was a delicious choice. I also added on the local green salad . Our food arrived in a timely manner around the time we poured our 2nd glass of mimosas. The lamb burger was prepared medium well with just a hint of pink, it was well seasoned and juicy. The burger was topped with Gorgonzola, a red onion marmalade and arugula on a house made sesame seed bun. These paired so well together , the Gorgonzola cheese melted in with the marmalade almost creating a sauce/spread. Absolutely delectable! The home fries were a little overcooked in my opinion and lacked seasoning. I was able to try my friends grits and I would have much rather substituted those for my potatoes. The grits were a cold water yellow stone ground that were thick and hearty. The local green salad was light and fresh with a zesty lemon vinaigrette.
We took our time enjoying our meal and working on our 2nd carafe taking in the decor. I have yet to see a more alluring and creatively decorated restaurant. They could use just a little more variation in their musical selections. 5Church would be a great venue to turn into a lounge at night with its swanky furnishings. Overall I enjoyed my experience at 5Church our waiter was personable and accommodating and the hostess as well as the other staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the restaurants origins. If youβre in the uptown Charlotte area looking for a vivid and lively brunch spot. I suggest you head to the corner of 5th & Church street to give 5Church a try!
