An Intentional New Year
I have been preparing for the new year since midway into the 3rd quarter of 2018. I started with de-cluttering. My life had become a collection of things and people that should have been let go a while ago. I had held on to things past their expiration points. People who were energy leaks and that continuously revealed themselves to not have pure intentions for me kept finding their way back in. I had accumulated so many clothes that I always lost things in my closet and had bins of clothes that went untouched; and yet I always felt like I had nothing to wear. My hair product and beauty product collection was overflowing meanwhile I was still giving Sephora all of my money! The thing that I’m grateful for is that I was able to identify it and set plans to resolve it.
I started with people. I touched on my realization of how these negative relationships were affecting my well being in my ‘Protecting Your Energy’ post if you haven’t read yet check it out!
Next to my closet and bedroom. If you all could see the disarray!! It was confusion and so was my mind. I started just throwing things in piles what I still wanted what went untouched for a year or more. If you don’t find the need for something within a year really…why are you keeping it? I had a bin of clothes from college that was untouched since I moved out as well as a bin of hand me downs from my older sister. Safe to say those went in the donate pile. I ended up donating four large and heavy boxes of clothes. My closet… I could actually see what was in there and I still have some empty spaces.
My bathroom had beauty and hair products that spanned back to 2014. Now if you all aren’t aware most products have shelf lives so there was nothing that from 2014 that deserved a place in my bathroom and yet it was there. I went through a major purge of that as well revealing so much space that I could actually neatly organize my skincare, makeup, and hair products from all of those haul videos I share on my Youtube channel. Through all this de-cluttering I kept questioning myself like wow how did I let it get like this? What was I thinking? How can I start the new year off prepared and revitalized when I’m holding onto things that serve me no further purpose? De-cluttering physically, mentally, and emotionally is allowing me to make room for all of the things I’ve prayed and hoped for. Allowing me to be in a place open and ready to receive.
I have witnessed how powerful words and ideas can be when you speak life into them and write them down. I have seen people manifest greatness through breathing it into existence. For 2019 I wanted to be able to do the same. I decided to curate life goals with various categories from personal, career, financial, self care, and love by New Years Eve so I could step into the New Year with a plan. I feel like 2018 was a transition period that had moments of chaos internally and externally. I had to take the lessons I learned from last year and apply them to cut off the cycle of madness and start anew.
The first and most important goal of all I wrote down was to be intentional. Such a broad goal but it is the umbrella that I want every thing else to flow from. To be intentional is to do and say everything on purpose and with purpose. I felt like while I had positive moments in 2018 I also wasted a lot of time and energy. Being intentional would allow me to be considerate of how I expend energy and time creating an environment that is conducive to my happiness, health, and overall well being. I wrote down my intentions in my new customized Erin Condren Planner my sister gifted me for Christmas. I felt a surge of happiness, excitement, and hunger. I was bursting with energy. I was smiling.
I am an intentional being full of purpose and light. How are you preparing for 2019? If you haven’t yet wrote some goals down it is never too late. Share with me below some things you are manifesting in 2019. Manifest your destiny!
